Support Your Child in their Steps to Christ
Encourage them to get involved and grow

At Grand Island E-Free, we believe that parents are the most important human
influence in their child's life. It is our goal to come alongside you in
this journey and empower you to be the discipler of your child that God
made you to be. On this page are just a few ideas and resources to consider. Please take the time to explore and find out which would be of value to you.
Also, please note: We are moving in a direction. We have not arrived at
the destination yet. Keep checking this page for further updates.
Below are some ideas for your family..
Prioritize family devotions.
Find a devotional book that is age-appropriate
that you can regularly do together as a family. We would recommend making a
family meal each day in which to do this. See The One Minute Bible above
for one possible resource. I would highlight the need to read a few verses
of the Bible during this time.
Join us for family events at church.
We have a quarterly potluck for
families, and we are continuing to build other family-inclusive activities
into our schedule. Check the calendar for more
information. There is also the church summer camp and others that are great opportunities.
Serve in the community together
Life lessons are more often caught than
taught, so teach your children by regularly volunteering together at a local
charity.
Encourage them to earn Scholarships
Our scholarship program enables youth to be proactive in their walk with Christ, and it also helps them to earn money for camps and trips. Youth are able to earn $50 "blocks" of money for our trips and camps by completing certain tasks and writing a report on what they have learned.
The three tasks that will be available are 1) reading biographies from a select list, 2) memorizing Bible verses, and 3) doing certain other projects like the service day mentioned above. The specific details are below.
- 1. Each student can earn up to 4 blocks per school year (Sept. - Aug.), one per report
- 2.Scholarships do not roll over to the next school year... use it or lose it
- 3.Student must be signed in to at least two-thirds of Free Life meetings
- 4.Only applies as scholarship funds are available... once they're gone, they're going
The system works like this: Students earn four "blocks"
| $50 Block | $50 Block | $50 Block | $50 Block |
If an event costs $75, the student can use two blocks, but they will lose the remaining $25 in the second block Or the student can use one or no blocks and save the others for a later event in the same year.
