Mexico
Mexico missions began at the Evangelical Free Church of Grand Island in 2000 with a group traveling to the mountain village of Aquilastec, Hidalgo, Mexico. Our vision was to come alongside the Evangelical Free Churches of Mexcio (FIEL) and also Pastor Dionicio Hernandez Alvarez, to provide support of the local churches and aid in spreading the Word throughout the mountains of central Mexico.
In 2000 through 2004, teams from Grand Island were able to complete the construction of the "True Vine Evangelical Free Church" in Aquilastec. In 2005, construction began on a worship/training facility in the town of Tlanchinol, Hidalgo, Mexico. In 2006 through 2009, teams from Grand Island, Omaha, Lincoln and Broken Bow worked together on this project. The worship/training facility project was completed this year. Pastor Dionico says now it is time to build the "church".
This year, our Mexico team consisted of ten people: Randy Dye, Ed Medbery, Jan Dye, Kevin Hiegel, Ruth Jensen, Matt Preisendorf, Steve Schauer, Kari Schmidt, Liz Senn and Ladd Smith.
